Malvira

Malvira’ is located in Piemonte’s Roero district just North of Alba and across the Tanaro river from the langhe. The name Malvira’ is related to the former location of the old winery and its courtyard, which faced North instead of South, ignoring all winemaking traditions. Therefore, “mal” stands for wrong and “vira” for situated. In 1989, the winery moved from the historic center of Canale to the small village of Canova at the foot of the Trinita’vineyard which is adjacent to the family restaurant and hotel Villa Tiboldi. After beginning production in the 50’s under the guidance of Giuseppe Damonte, today the estate is run by Roberto and Massimo, Giuseppe’s sons, who inherited their father’s passion for winemaking. The two brothers work closely together with Roberto managing the cellar and US sales and Massimo managing the vineyards.
